Field Trip to Shaver’s Creek

Shaver’s Creek Native Plant Sale

Saturday, May 2 Leaving Wal-mart parking lot at 8 a.m. Parking at the McDonald’s end.

Kay will be taking a 7 passenger van. Please make a reservation.   We will need another driver if the van fills up. Tentatively we currently have 7 people.  The garden club will be paying for gas. Everything else is on your own. We will be doing something for lunch.

Rain Gardens (11:00 a.m.)

Discover the beauty and benefits of rain gardens, including improved water quality, reduced erosion and lawn “ponding,” and quality native habitat for wildlife. Learn how to set one up in your own yard!

Buzz-worthy Gardens (12:30 p.m.)

Bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators need your help! Whether you’re interested in helping bees, attracting butterflies, or bringing in birds, we’ll cover all the ins and outs of creating your own habitat at home.

Guided Walk: Shaver’s Creek Native Plant Gardens and Invasive Plant Management Projects (2:00 p.m.)

Take a leisurely stroll through Shaver’s Creek landscaped and natural habitats and discover ways to promote native plants and manage invasive plants on your property.

Shaver’s Creek Meet the Birds of Prey Program (1:30–3:00 p.m.)

Meet some of Shaver’s Creek resident raptors up close and learn interesting facts from our expert volunteers Carolyn Muse and Rodney Brubaker.
